2006 American Concrete Pavement Association Award

The Blair Municipal Airport has been awarded the Gold Winner for Reliever & General Aviation Airports by the American Concrete Pavement Association. The award was based on the continuous operation of the existing runway during construction of the new runway, taxi ways and apron and the exceptional quality of construction. The runway was poured in four days, averaging 2,800 cubic yards of concrete per day. No corrective grinding was required due to the finished profile of only 0.4 inch per mile. The engineer was HWS Consulting Group of Lincoln, NE and the Contractor was Cedar Valley Corp. of Waterloo, IA.
